So, let’s talk meet and greets. I’ve never really had any interest in attending one before, because they just seem so clinical and impersonal and what have you, and I feel like I would rather have no contact with the band than ten seconds that turn out to be a depressing letdown or whatever. I’m not blaming the band for that, I understand the logistics and what have you. I’m just saying that, generally, I’m not interested in getting all worked up over something that isn’t going to be what I want it to be, so I haven’t had much interest in the past. But now I’m thinking that maybe I should enter the lotteries, just to see. Because, obviously, if I actually want to go, then I won’t win. But maybe it would be a cool experience. Or just an experience that I would like to actually experience for myself so I can have my own objective and subjective views of it instead of relying on other people’s accounts.
Have any of you been to a meet and greet? I’m not looking for giddy “ZOMG I BREATHED THE SAME AIR AS JOHN RZEZNIK” bullshit, I’m looking for something more concrete and, I don’t know, skeptical? Realistic? Basically, I’m trying to decide if it’s a complete fucking waste of time and emotion, or if you can actually have a genuinely cool and non-disappointing time at a meet and greet. Any thoughts are welcome.
